Nitrogen fertility requirements and testing program for potatoes in Saskatchewan (1998-2000) - 15 pages
In this trial, a range of N fertility treatments designed to cover the spectrum from deficient through to luxury levels were tested. Sufficient 46-0-0 was applied as a pre-plant broadcast treatment to raise soil N levels to 50, 100, 150, 200 or 300 kg/ha. A split application was also tested; with sufficient N applied at planting to provide a total of 100 kg N/ha, with an additional 100 kg N/ha added at hilling. Other nutrient levels were amended in accordance with local soil test recommendations for irrigated potatoes.
In 1998, Elite 3 level seed of the cultivars Russet Burbank, Ranger Russet, Shepody, Alpha, NorDonna and Russet Norkotah were planted at the Saskatoon site. In Outlook, only NorDonna, Ranger Russet and Russet Norkotah were tested.
